Ware County News

A motor vehicle accident caused fatal injuries to one driver and seriously injured two others Saturday evening, March 23, 2019.  According to Jacksonville.com, “[the driver of] a Nissan Altima traveling the wrong way on U.S. 1 about three miles north of Race Pond was killed when it collided head-on with an SUV headed south.”  The Nissan “struck a GMC Yukon in the southbound lane closest to the median of the divided four-lane highway.”  According to the news story, “[t]he driver of the Yukon, 43-year-old Billy Davis, and a passenger, Gwendolen Davis, 48, both of St. Johns, Fla., were transported to UF Health in Jacksonville for treatment…Billy Davis was taken to the hospital by ambulance and Gwendolen Davis was transported by air evacuation.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Our Legal Take

As the details of this tragedy continue to develop, and depending on who is deemed to be at fault in causing the accident, Billy Davis and Gwendolen Davis may elect to seek justice and file a civil claim for their injuries.  Based upon its extensive experience and success handling these types of motor vehicle claims in Georgia, The Murray Law Firm suggests that Mr. and Mrs. Davis should retain an experienced personal injury firm to protect their interests and ensure an unbiased investigation. Photographs of the roadways and vehicles involved and a review of surveillance footage from nearby businesses or properties, if any exists, will need to be performed immediately before any evidence is damaged or destroyed.
