As reported by 13WMAZ.com, “Putnam County Coroner…said that around 3 p.m., a Georgia Power truck turned in front of the couple and crashed into them. The crash happened on Highway 16, or Sparta Highway, and Pea Ridge Road.”

WSBtv.com is reporting, “[t]he Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Sara and James Abbott died in the crash on Georgia Hwy 16. Investigators said [the other driver] was driving a 2021 Ford F-150 westbound when he turned his work truck into the path of the Abbotts’ 2018 Ford Flex that was heading eastbound. The couple died at the scene.”

The investigation is ongoing.
