Sparta, GA – An inmate dead after an attack at a state prison Saturday night, January 24, 2026.
As reported by 13WMAZ.com, “Stephen Wood, 55, was attacked by his cellmate around 11 p.m. on Saturday night. Wood was taken to Washington County Regional Hospital, before he was transferred to Wellstar Hospital in Augusta.”
According to the report, “Wood was pronounced dead around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.”
