An accident involving a tractor-trailer and a vehicle Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2019, tragically claimed the life of a Tavares, Florida woman.

As reported by, “[t]he two-vehicle wreck occurred on Ga. 115 east of Dock Dorsey Road in White County at about 12:35 p.m.”

According to the report, a 2007 Freightliner tractor pulling a 53-foot trailer was traveling west on Ga. 115.  The driver of the tractor-trailer made an aggressive brake to avoid a collision with stopped traffic, which caused the truck to jackknife into the eastbound lane.  The truck then struck an eastbound 2001 GMC Savanna van. is reporting, “the van was being driven by Catherine Grant-Coons, of Tavares, Florida…[Ms.] Grant-Coons was fatally injured in the crash.”  The driver of the truck was uninjured, and charges are pending according to the report.
