A motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle and logging truck in Gwinnett County, Georgia Wednesday morning, March 18, 2020, caused the death of one person.

As reported by AccessWDUN.com, “the fatal accident was reported around 7:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-985 south of Woodward Mill Road, which is near the I-85 split.”

“According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of a Kia Sportage, Keith Tumlin – age 45 of Gainesville – struck the back of the logging truck,” according to the AccessWDUN.com report.

According to AJC.com, “[t]he truck’s driver told officers that the wreck took place as he was getting back onto the interstate after pulling over on the shoulder to deal with an equipment issue.”

The investigation is ongoing.

A motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle and tractor-trailer in Houston County, Georgia early Sunday morning, March 8, 2020, caused the death of a mother and child.

As reported by Macon.com, “[a]n Atlanta-area woman was killed along with her 4-year-old son early Sunday when their minivan was struck by a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 75 in south Houston County.”

According to the report, “[t]he crash happened in the freeway’s northbound lanes near mile marker 125, just south of the exit at Ga. 26, west of Elko and about nine miles south of Perry.”

13WMAZ.com is reporting, “Georgia State Patrol says a tractor trailer and a Toyota van collided with each other in the right lane. Their investigation shows the van was at a stop or nearly stopped in the lane. That’s when the van was hit in the back by the semi-truck.”

According to the report, “[t]he mother, 29-year-old Alisha Young, and one of the boys, 4-year-old Malakai, passed away…the other boy, Kayden, was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon.”

The investigation is ongoing.

A motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle and tractor-trailer in Midway, Georgia Thursday morning, March 5, 2020, caused the death of one person.

As reported by CoastalCourier.com, “Joseph Leon Kerr, 62, was traveling south on 95 and had to pull off the interstate south of Exit 76 in Midway when he began to have vehicle trouble…Kerr pulled his 2002 Toyota Corolla onto the grassy shoulder asphalt around 6:55 a.m.”

According to the report, “[w]hile sitting in his vehicle waiting for a tow truck to come recover his vehicle a tractor trailer driver…decided to take a 30 minute break from driving and began to pull onto the shoulder of the interstate.”

WJCL.com is reporting, “[a]s he was pulling over, the front passenger side of his rig struck Kerr’s 2002 Toyota Corolla’s driver’s side, injuring Kerr.”

The victim was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah where he was tragically unable to recover from his injuries, according to the report.
