Could this Decatur shooting have been prevented and is justice available to the injured bystander?

Gunfire erupted during a suspected robbery attempt outside a Kroger grocery store Friday night, June 15, 2018, leaving an innocent bystander injured, according to 11 Alive reports.

Police told WSB-TV 2, “three people followed a couple out of the grocery store along Wesley Chapel Road and into the parking lot” in what may have been “a robbery or carjacking” attempt. An exchange of gunfire broke out between one of the victims and the assailant, striking an “innocent bystander.” The intended victims were apparently uninjured in the attack. Two of the assailants suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
